Water...or the lack of it in the Southeastern US has Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue "praying for rain". If Mr. Perdue has any familiarity with whom he is "praying" to, then he should also be well aware of our instructions from that same power. We were told in scripture to be responsible stewards of our world. Clearly we have not, and it's absurd to attempt substituting prayer for responsible management of our natural resources. My suggestion to Mr. Perdue is to get up off your knees and develop policies that better manage our natural resources. Here's a start...require toilets at all state facilities to use less than the 1.6 gallons per flush currently mandated. Prior to 1992 the standard was 3.2 gallons per use. The 1.6 standard saves this country approximately 4.8 billion, yes billion, gallons of potable water every day! Surely we are smarter, technologically, than in 1992. The time is now to go beyond the 1.6 standard. The state of Georgia does not need the federal Government, prayer or anything, other than some responsible policy making to begin to solve their water problem.
