Why is it government leaders want to extend taxpayer assistance to "private companies" that paid their executives exorbitant salaries, including bonuses, for leading them down this path? Haven't we been down this road before? Government should be prosecuting these individuals rather than enriching them at our expense. Why prosecute...how about a little thing called "fiduciary responsibility". By pursuing inherently risky lines of business without reserving adequate capital for the back-side of this investment cycle, these companies very existence have been compromised. Not compromised however are the bank accounts of those responsible, they merely walk away after having been richly rewarded throughout. This IS criminal behavior and ought to be prosecuted accordingly. Before $1 is used to help these companies, those responsible ought to be held accountable for their negligent fiduciary responsibility.
